| Below are the rules for Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. There is a lot of information, but these rules are established to keep the site running smoothly and effectively, as well as for the safety of our members. We try to be lenient when rules are broken once, but understand that major violations can result in being banned from the site. Registration Please register with a first and last name, using capitals and necessary spacing. Be creative, and make up your own name! This is a non-canon site, so don’t sign up with names like “Harry Potter” or “Mallory Granger”. Also, try not to use knock-offs, such as “Naruto” or “Jack Sparrow”. It is also important that you enter a valid, working email address, as this is necessary to activate your account. Privacy While we strongly recommend not doing so, you are allowed to share personal information, pending that it does not break site rules. This includes, but is not limited to, phone numbers, addresses, real names, etc. However, we ask that you think carefully before doing so, and understand the possible consequences. The staff will never force you to reveal personal information. We do require an email for registration, but this will not be shared with other third parties without your permission. (To disable members from sending you messages by email via this board, see the FAQ) Rating Please note that Beauxbaton’s rating is “PG” to “PG-13”. This means some content may not be suitable for children. In other words, you may post minor swear words (anything used in the HP series), but don’t go overboard. Nudity is not allowed, nor is extreme violence (in other words, you cannot kill someone). Any “R” rated content will result in being immediately banned from the site. Posting + Here at Beauxbatons, grammar is our friend. We like to post with a capital letter where necessary, and use punctuation. + Double-posting is not allowed. If you look at the top left hand corner of your screen, there is a button for editing your posts. + Please do not spam. Spam is short, pointless, annoying messages that are unnecessary. This includes pointless PMs, the advertising of other sites, and posting spam on message boards. + Do not use netspeak (aka chatspeak). Examples include: “u” for “you”, “2” for “to”, “b/c” for “because”, etc. This also includes pOsTiNg LiKe ThIs. I promise it does not make you cool ^.^ + Don’t post in ALL CAPS, as this can give the appearance that you are yelling at someone. Also, do not use excessive punctuation, such as “cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”. + NOTE: We have no problem with those who don’t write English well, have occasionally spelling errors, or are foreign. Our main problem is when a user puts no effort into their post. Graphic Rules + Graphics should not include anything that would be considered offensive to others. + Signature cannot be larger than 500px wide & 200px high in total. + Avatars cannot be larger than 100px high & 100px wide. + Graphics that represent the Harry Potter world and Beauxbatons are greatly encouraged. + The characters that you use in your signature and avatar are to represent your character at Beauxbatons: a normal child. Try to use someone age appropriate, not a supermodel. + Anime and cartoon characters are allowed, if age appropriate. + You may not advertise in your signature (only in the advertising section). + Usually a warning will be issued, and an admin or mod will modify your signature. Depending on the severity, you may lose the privilege to have a signature, or be banned from the site completely (for instance, using a pornographic picture). Copyright + Do not steal or copy any material from this site without permission. Period. + If you write some sort of text for the site, whether it be a lesson, library book, application, etc., they are your work – meaning you are free to use them elsewhere. However, we appreciate you telling us first, because we could be accused of stealing it, and vise-versa. + If you have created any work, including text and graphics, on another site and wish to use them here, please make sure the other site approves before posting it. Accounts You may have one character per member; multiple accounts are not permitted. We encourage you to bring family and friends, but if they are using the same IP address, please let us know before they create their account, or immediately after. Professors, however, are the one exception to this rule. They may have both their Professor account and one student account. Members are not, for any reason, to give out their password, or let another use their account. Private Messages (PM) Please do not send inappropriate material, spam, or advertisements using private messages, and try not to bug people if they don’t reply immediately.
